Language Learning through Drama

On April 21, 2007, American Corner Bacau hosted again an American expert, Fulbright grantee, actor, director and writer, Mr. Andrew Reilly. He has worked extensively in theatre, film, and TV in the U.S. and internationally, and is giving seminars and workshops for both actors and screenplay writers. He holds a Master of Fine Arts Degree in Theatre from U.S.C. and is a member of SAG, Equity and AFTRA, the tree professional actors’ unions in the United States. Mr. Andrew Reilly responded to our invitation to hold a seminar at American Corner Bacau on the topic “Language Learning through Drama”. The American guest shared to the public different techniques for determining the acting type, for artistic interpretation, for physical and vocal warm-up. He also highlighted the importance and the efficiency of drama using for teaching and learning English. The public, represented by 34 English teachers, proved to be very responsive to this topic, and intervened with questions during the seminar. The book written by Andrew Reilly, “An actor’s business”, also interested them; the two copies, which were donated by the author to our center, were borrowed the same day.

Comunicand in limba engleza prin teatru

In ziua de 21 aprilie 2007, American Corner Bacau a fost din nou gazda unui expert american, bursier Fulbright, actor, regizor si scriitor, domnul Andrew Reilly. Acesta a lucrat in teatru, cinematografie si televiziune si a sustinut numeroase seminarii si workshop-uri in intreaga lume. La invitatia noastra, Andrew Reilly a sosit la Bacau pentru a sustine un seminar intitulat “Comunicare verbala prin teatru”. Oaspetele american a impartasit celor 34 de profesori de limba engleza prezenti cu aceasta ocazie tehnici de determinare a tipului scenic, de interpretare artistica, de incalzire fizica si vocala. Invitatul special a evidentiat eficienta utilizarii dramatizarii in predarea si invatarea limbii engleze. Publicului bacauan prezent, s-a aratat deosebit de receptiv, intervenind cu intrebari pe parcursul seminarului. De asemenea, profesorii s-au aratat interesati de cartea oaspetelui american “An actor’s business”, cele doua exemplare donate la American Corner Bacau de catre autor fiind imprumutate pe loc.
