The Hollywood Film Industry

On April 22, 2007, American Corner Bacau hosted again the American expert, Fulbright grantee, actor, director and writer, Mr. Andrew Reilly. He has worked extensively in theatre, film, and TV in the U.S. and internationally, and is giving seminars and workshops for both actors and screenplay writers. He holds a Master of Fine Arts Degree in Theatre from U.S.C. and is a member of SAG, Equity and AFTRA, the tree professional actors’ unions in the United States. Mr. Andrew Reilly came to Bacau also for the seminar: “The Hollywood Film Industry”. This began with a lecture about the history of the movie, starting with the Lumiere brothers in France and D.W. Griffith in the United States. The American guest offered information regarding the screenplay format and the story structure in a Hollywood movie. The seminar continued with the screening of a Hollywood film - “Last of the Dogmen”, that was stopped at some intervals to discuss about how the movie is following the screenplay format. During the film, the public had to fill in a questionnaire about the structure of the story. The seminar finished with a short discussion about whether the movie has a compelling idea or not. The 26 students and teachers present to this activity had the occasion to learn more details about the industry of the American films and about how the Hollywood movies are made, from page to screen to DVD.

Industria hollywoodiana a filmului

In ziua de 22 aprilie 2007, American Corner Bacau a fost din nou gazda expertului american, bursier Fulbright, actor, regizor si scriitor, domnul Andrew Reilly. Andrew Reilly a sustinut la American Corner Bacau si un seminar intitulat “Industria hollywoodiana a filmului”, care a debutat cu un scurt istoric al imaginii in miscare, fiind amintita contributia fratilor Lumiere in Franta si a lui D.W.Griffith in Statele Unite. Oaspetele American a oferit explicatii referitoare la format dar si la structura unui film hollywoodian. Activitatea a continuat cu vizionarea unui film - “Last of the Dogmen” - care a fost intrerupt la anumite intervale de timp pentru discutii referitoare la modul in care filmul urmeaza structura discutata anterior. De asemenea, pe parcursul derularii filmului, publicul a completat chestionare referitoare la structura povestii. Cei 26 de liceeni, studenti si cadre didactice participante la acest seminar au avut astfel ocazia de a afla astfel detalii despre industria filmului si despre drumul pe care acesta il parcurge de la scenariu pana pe marele ecran.
