Remembering 9/11: the day the world changed. Five years after

The purpose of this activity organized by the American Corner Bacau was to commemorate the victims of the terrorist attacks from World Trade Center and to remind the public about the danger of terrorism.
The mini-exhibit organized with this occasion contains photos and general information concerning the dramatic events from September 11, 2001 and their results. A votive candle burned all day long in remembrance of the victims, next to a list with their names. Also, the American Corner center offered to the public the chance to see the documentary movie "Faith & Doubt at Ground Zero", and to consult the photo albums "New York, September 11" and "One nation: America remembers September 11, 2001" from the center's collections. The visitors received some informative materials about the terrorist attacks, but also about the democracy in the USA.
The exhibit is opened to the public during the week to follow.
The exhibit was visited in its first two days by about 30 teachers. There were two articles in local journals: in "Desteptarea" the article 'A burning candle for 9/11 at American Corner Bacau' and in "Ziarul de Bacau" 'The victims of the attempts from September 11, commemorated in Bacau too'. Also, prof Gabriel Stan - head-master of the Teacher Training Center Bacau - gave an interview for the local TV station Alfa TV.

Luni, 11 septembrie, ora 10.00, la centrul American Corner al Casei Corpului Didactic "Gr. Tabacaru", s-a deschis expozitia intitulata "Remembering 9/11: the day the world changed. Five years after".
Aceasta actiune a avut drept scop comemorarea victimelor atentatelor teroriste de la World Trade Center si readucerea in atentia publicului a pericolului reprezentat de terorism.
Mini-expozitia organizata cu aceasta ocazie a cuprins fotografii si informatii referitoare la evenimentele din 11 septembrie 2001, la cauzele si urmarile lor. O candela a fost aprinsa in memoria victimelor, alaturi de o lista cuprinzand numele tuturor acestora. De asemenea, centrul American Corner a oferit publicului interesat ocazia de a viziona filmul documentar "Faith & Doubt at Ground Zero", care a rulat continuu pe tot parcursul zilei. Au putut fi consultate si albumele fotografice "New York, September 11" si "One nation: America remembers September 11, 2001", aflate in colectiile bibliotecii American Corner Bacau. Materiale informative privind tragicele evenimente din 2001 dar si democratia in SUA au fost distribuite vizitatorilor.
Expozitia va fi deschisa publicului larg si in zilele urmatoare.
Expozitia a fost vizitata in primele doua zile de aprox. 30 cadre didactice.
Actiunea s-a bucurat de o mediatizare buna. Au aparut doua articole in presa locala: in "Desteptarea": 'O candela aprinsa pentru 11 septembrie la American Corner Bacau' si in "Ziarul de Bacau": 'Victimele atentatelor din 11 septembrie, comemorate si in Bacau'. De asemenea, dl prof. Gabriel Stan - directorul Casei Corpului Didactic Bacau - a acordat un interviu postului de televiziune local Alfa TV.
