Santa Claus is coming to town!

On December 20, 2006, “American Corner Bacau” was filled with the music of Christmas carols. Over 40 elementary school students from two local schools, “I. Creanga” School and “M. Sadoveanu” School, trained by their English teachers, Mrs. Petrescu and Mrs. Popa, introduced a short Christmas show.

The program included a presentation on the significance of Christmas, the history of Santa Claus, and customs and traditions in the United States and Romania. The most expected moment was the Christmas carols program performed by the students around to the Christmas tree. Their efforts were rewarded with apples and knock-shaped bread, following the Romanian tradition, and of course with participation certificates.

During the following week, the public could admire a drawings exhibit on Christmas and winter themes, designed earlier by the students.

Santa Claus is coming to town!

Miercuri, 20 decembrie, 2006, American Corner Bacau a rasunat de colinde. Peste 40 de elevi de la doua scoli bacauane, Scoala “I. Creanga” si Scoala “M. Sadoveanu”, pregatiti de profesoarele lor, d-na Petrescu si d-na Popa, au sustinut la American Corner Bacau un scurt, dar dens program artistic cu ocazia Craciunului.

Programul a cuprins prezentarea semnificatiei sarbatorii, a istoriei lui Mos Craciun si a unor obiceiuri si traditii de Craciun din S.U.A. si Romania. Cel mai asteptat moment a fost recitalul de colinde in limba engleza, interpretate de elevi in jurul pomului de Craciun. Pentru efortul lor, elevii au fost recompensati cu mere si colaci, conform traditiei romanesti, dar si cu diplome de participare.

De asemenea, timp de o saptamana, in holul institutiei a putut fi admirata expozitia cu desene avand ca tema iarna si sarbatoarea de Craciun, realizate anterior de elevi ai celor 2 scoli.
