American Music at American Corner Constanta

On March 2, 2007, American Corner Constanta hosted a presentation on American Music by Vice Consul of the U.S. Embassy in Bucharest, Robert Tate. Mr. Tate delivered a talk on the distinctiveness of the American music from its origins to the present, focusing on jazz. He played the guitar for his audience who subsequently shared some of their views on the reception of American music in Europe. Mr. Tate was interested in hearing about Romanian jazz artists and festivals.

The activity was attended by distinguished guests: the Dean of the Faculty of Letters, Professor Dr. Adina Ciugureanu, Professor Dr. Eduard Vlad, Associate Professor Dr. Ana-Maria Munteanu and other faculty as well as undergraduate and graduate students majoring in American Studies, English and Journalism at Ovidius University, Constanta. All the 28 participants enjoyed every moment of the event as Mr. Tate provided first hand information on an issue of major interest nowadays and engaged in discussions with everyone present.

Muzica Americana la American Corner Constanta

In ziua 2 martie 2007, Robert Tate, viceconsul al Ambasadei S.U.A. la Bucuresti, a sustinut, la American Corner Constanta, o prelegere despre muzica americana. Domnul Tate a vorbit despre caracterul ei distinct de la origini pana in prezent, discutand mai ales despre muzica jazz pe care a si exemplificat-o la chitara. La invitatia sa, membri ai publicului si-au exprimat parerile privind receptarea muzicii americane in Europa. Domnul Tate a dorit sa afle mai multe informatii despre artistii si festivalurile de jazz din Romania.

La aceasta activitate au participat oaspeti distinsi: doamna decan a Facultatii de Litere, prof. dr. Adina Ciugureanu, prof. dr. Eduard Vlad, conf. dr. Ana-Maria Munteanu si alti profesori, precum si studenti de la specializarile Studii Americane, Engleza si Jurnalism din Universitatea “Ovidius” Constanta. Toti cei 28 de paricipanti au fost extrem de receptivi, intrucat domnul Tate a prezentat informatii inedite despre un domeniu de interes actual si a fost deschis discutiilor cu cei prezenti.
