English Class at American Corner Iasi - Black History Month

As a part of the “English Class at the American Corner” project, on February 15, 2007, American Corner Iasi hosted and organized the screening of the short film “Inspiring Figures: Duke Ellington and Ella Fitzgerald”, followed by a general discussion about jazz. The main reason for this particular meeting was the celebration in February of the Black History of Month. 12 11th graders along with their English teacher were present and attentively watched this film. The starting point of the discussions that followed was a general information page prepared by the American Corner staff. The students considered this experience very positive and expressed their desire to return on another occasion.

In data de 15 februarie 2007, in cadrul proiectului “English Class at the American Corner”, American Corner Iasi a gazduit si organizat o vizionare a filmului “Inspiring Figures: Duke Ellington and Ella Fitzgerald”, urmata de o discutie generala despre jazz. Principala motivatie a aceastei intalniri a fost celebrarea in luna februarie a civilizatiei afro-americane.

Participantii au fost 12 elevi din clasa a XI-a de la liceul “V. Alecsandri” Iasi, insotiti de profesoara de limba engleza. Filmul a fost urmarit cu atentie, iar baza discutiilor a constituit-o pagina cu informatii generale pregatita de personalul de la American Corner.

Elevii au considerat aceasta experienta benefica si si-au exprimat dorinta de a reveni si cu alta ocazie.
