The Hollywood Film Industry

On March 30, 2007, American Corner Iasi hosted the seminar ”The Hollywood Film Industry”, held by Andrew Reilly, Fulbright grantee, actor, director and actor.

The “Gh. Asachi” Art Galleries of the Iasi County Library opened its doors to the over 50 students from three high schools: “E. Racovita” National High School Iasi, “O. Bancila” National High School of Art Iasi (Theatre and Choreography Section students), and “Ion Neculce” Theoretical High School Targu Frumos. Peace Corps volunteers and other users of the library were also present at the event.

The activity lasted for about three hours and it started with a general presentation about the Hollywood movie world. During the second part of the event the participants watched the movie ”Walk the Line”, the screening being interrupted at some points for discussions about the characters, the ways of gradual restoration of the plot and the technical means used in the creation of the different scenes.

The participants have benefited in this way from the competent and well documented information offered by the guest, but they’ve also enjoyed the cultural moment offered by the screening of the Oscar nominated and Golden Globes awarded movie.

All the participants present received in the end of the event free pamphlets on “Art on the Edge: 17 Contemporary American Artists” and “In Celebration of 125 Years of US-Romanian Diplomatic Relations”.

Industria hollywoodiana a filmului

In data de 30 martie 2007, American Corner Iasi a gazduit prelegerea ”Industria hollywoodiana a filmului”, sustinuta de Andrew Reilley, bursier Fulbright cu specializarea - teatru si film.

Galeriile de Arta “Gh. Asachi” ale Bibliotecii Judetene au fost, ca de obicei, primitoare cu cei peste 50 de elevi de la 3 licee din judet: elevii Sectiei de Teatru si Coregrafie de la Colegiul National de Arta „O. Bancila” Iasi, de la Colegiul National „E. Racovita” Iasi si de la Liceul Teoretic ”Ion Neculce” Targu Frumos. In sala s-au mai aflat voluntari Peace Corps si alti utilizatori ai serviciilor bibliotecii.

Activitatea a durat 3 ore si a debutat cu o prezentare generala despre lumea filmului la Hollywood. In cea de-a doua parte a intalnirii participantii au urmarit filmul artistic „Povestea lui Johnny Cash” vizionarea fiind intrerupta la anumite intervale pentru discutii despre personaje, modalitati de redare gradata a intrigii si mijloace tehnice folosite la realizarea diferitelor scene.

Participantii au beneficiat astfel de informatiile competente si documentate oferite de invitat, dar au savurat si momentul cultural oferit de vizionarea filmului nominalizat la Oscar in 2006 si castigator a trei Globuri de Aur in acelasi an.

La final, toti cei prezenti au primit reviste ”Art on the Edge: 17 Contemporary American Artists” si „Sarbatorirea a 125 de ani de relatii diplomatice romano-americane”.
