Life is Calling

"Life is Calling", Peace Corps' motto, inspired the American Corner Iasi in organizing an event about the importance of volunteering and about the role played by the Peace Corps volunteers around the entire world. The meeting that took place on December 18, 2006, brought together about 15 10th graders, along with their English teacher, from the Economic Administrative High School in Iasi.

The Peace Corps guests, Molly Peugh and Matthew Zdon, spoke about their motivation in joining this program and about their experience inside the organization. Some of the students also shared their stories about their voluntary participation in projects helping disadvantaged children and asked the guests questions related not only to their work in Romania, but also to their adjustment to the life in a foreign country.

All participants received informative materials from the US Peace Corps in Romania and pamphlets on “What is the Market Economy?”, appropriate for their educational profile, offered by the American Corner.

Life is Calling
