U.S. Ambassador Nicholas Taubman meets Civic Education students at American Corner

American Corner Timisoara hosted on January 18, a meeting between U.S. Ambassador Nicholas Taubman and Civic Education students from Timis county. The 15 students invited were led by Darius Borovic, coordinator for Civic Education Regional Center Timisoara and they presented Ambassador Taubman the results of the “Student Government” project developed under the Civic Education Program, financed by the U.S. Government.

Since 2001, the U.S. Embassy has been working with the Institute of Training and Development (ITD), based in Amherst, Massachusetts, to support a Civic Education Program for high school students throughout Romania. So far, the project has received approximately USD 750,000 for the eight regional centers around Romania, including Timisoara.

Local newspapers covered the event, which served to promote student activities with the Corner and in general.
