INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR COMBATING SEXUAL EXPLOITATION AND TRAFICKING OF WOMEN AND CHILDREN
September 23

American Corner organized film screenings for students, NGOs and other interested people followed by discussions on the topic of sexual exploitation and trafficking of women and children at the American Corner, Timis County Library, between 25.09 and 28.09.2006 from 14:00 hrs.

Two films were screened: Sex Slaves, an informative documentary in which viewers watch the trafficking scheme; Lilya 4Ever, feature film about a 13 year old girl in a post-communist Russia industrial town, who is abandoned by her mother, finds her way into prostitution.

At this events participated groups of high school students (12-25 persons) joined by teachers. The Students were over 17 year old from Henry Coanda high school, Colegiul National Banatean, Nicolaus Lenau, Rudolf Walther Foundation, William Shakespeare, NGO members involved in programs on combating human trafficking.

Media coverage: 3 local newspapers and 2 Radio Station (West City Radio, Timisoara Radio).
