Kultur Shock Rocks Timisoara to Help Fight Discrimination

The American band Kultur Shock joined forces with the Romani Art Festival in Timisoara, Romania on August 31 to combat discrimination against the Roma. This "Balkan Punk Rock Gypsy Metal Wedding" from Seattle, Washington, whose performance was sponsored by the American Cultural Center, opened the outdoor festival with a mix of styles and genres that vowed the audience of several hundred young people and kept them dancing despite a drenching thunderstorm. The first Romani Art Festival, organized by a young group of Roma students, was designed to break stereotypes about Romani art by demonstrating that Roma artists do more than play in wedding bands; they are photographers, artists, actors, and musicians in many genres. The multi-day festival included exhibits, concerts and other cultural performances, and was sponsored by the Romanian Council to Combat Discrimination and the National Council on the Roma.

Kultur Shock canta la Timisoara pentru combaterea discriminarii

Pe 31 august, trupa americana Kultur Shock si-a unit fortele cu Festivalul de Arta Roma din Timisoara, pentru a combate discriminarea impotriva romilor. "Balkan Punk Rock Gypsy Metal Wedding" din Seattle, Washington, al carei concert a fost sponsorizat de Centrul Cultural American, a deschis festivalul outdoor cu o combinatie de stiluri si genuri muzicale care a incantat publicul alcatuit din sute de tineri; acestia au dansat toata noaptea, in ciuda furtunii puternice. Primul festival de arta roma, organizat de un grup de studenti romi, a avut drept scop eliminarea stereotipurilor despre arta acestui grup etnic, demonstrand ca artistii romi nu canta doar in orchestre de lautari, la nunti; acestia sunt fotografi, artisti, actori si muzicieni din numeroase genuri muzicale. De asemenea, festivalul a inclus expozitii, concerte si alte spectacole culturale si a fost sponsorizat de Consiliul National pentru Combaterea Discriminarii si de Consiliul National al Romilor.
