Conference "Public Library Marketing in the U.S.: Creating Brandname Services and Loyal Users"

Information Resource Center

On February 6, 2007 IRC Bucharest hosted a conference on "Public Library Marketing in the U.S.: Creating Brandname Services and Loyal Users".

About 60 library professionals from the most important libraries in Romania, as well as American Corners’ Coordinators, attended a lecture at the American Cultural Center by Mr. Michael Huff, Regional Information Resource Officer. Using “Who Needs the Public Library?”, a library promotional movie produced by the Central Rappahannock Regional Library in Virginia, Huff helped participants explore new ways of marketing library services. The program also allowed the librarians to network with colleagues from other Romanian libraries. Participants commented that they were very impressed by the program and outlined a number of topics they hoped to be covered in future programs. During the event, the participants toured the Information Resource Center(IRC), received detailed information about IRC products and services and also International Information Programs(IIP) publications.
