Mail, telephone, telefax and fax services in Romania

Ordinary mail and telephone services in Romania are sometimes unreliable and frustrating.

International calls can be made from the Telephone Palace (Palatul Telefoanelor) on Calea Victoriei, and major Post Offices (former PTTR, Posta Telegraf Telefon Radio), from public phones with a phone card, or from private phones with international access (phone numbers starting with 2, 3 and 4). If you wish to place an international call from a telephone without international access, you may place a call through an operator by dialing 971 (international operator).

AT&T access number for Romania is: 01-800-4288.

MCI access number for Romania is: 01-800-1800.

SPRINT EXPRESS access number for Romania is: 01-800-0877.

From the Post Office, you may also send telegrams abroad. This may be the cheapest and fastest option.
