AMERICA.GOV – A New Gateway to the United States

The US Department of State is pleased to invite Romanians to visit "America.gov", its new interactive website for foreign audiences providing a wealth of material on U.S. policies and values. America.gov can be found at: http://www.america.gov.
In her introduction to "America.gov," Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice writes: "This exciting outlet allows our diplomats to reach out and engage with men and women around the world about issues affecting all our lives. We seek to make America.gov part of a two-way conversation between Americans and people in other countries."
In the competitive interactive Internet world, the America.gov new website meets the expectations of Web users worldwide, who want to know more about the US Government international presence on the Internet. America.gov is a multi-layered Web site with content of varying sophistication appropriate for a range of audiences from students to opinion makers. The interactive website provides in-depth material on U.S. policies, culture, and values, incorporating the latest in multi-media, video, forum discussions, polls, and quizzes.
Multimedia tools, publications, e-journals and webchats with US Government officials are now available, as well as an increased focus on the blogosphere – all these come to meet web users’ expectation for fast communication and rapid access to information.
With the current worldwide interest in our elections, we recommend journalists, scholars, foreign policy analysts and all those interested in general to visit the "U.S. Elections" section of "America.gov", which features a daily elections blog, detailed information on the candidates and their stands on various issues, interactive maps, timelines, in-depth information on selected congressional districts, and more. Televisions can also use video for TV broadcast and radio stations can podcast materials.
