US joins UEFA in saying "nu" (no) to racism in sports

Chargé d’Affaires Mark Taplin joined other foreign embassy officials, civil society representatives, politicians, representatives of the media and numerous children in celebrating the appointment of Romanian soccer player Banel Nicolita as UEFA Ambassador against Racism (UEFA - Union of European Football Associations). The announcement on December 7 was part of the “Racism Breaks the Game” Campaign, created at the initiative of the European Roma Grassroots Organization, the Association of Amateur and Non-Amateur Footballers, the National Council for Combating Discrimination and the Open Society Institute and supported by UEFA.
