STATEMENT FROM THE U.S. EMBASSY PRESS OFFICE

In response to some misunderstandings expressed by some elements of the news media in Romania, the U.S. Embassy Press Office wishes to point out that the newspaper known as Stars and Stripes, a newspaper oriented towards members of the U.S. armed forces and their families, is a privately-owned newspaper. It is not produced by the U.S. government and the U.S. government has no editorial control over its contents.
