Joint Task Force-East plans to land at County Hospital

MIHAIL KOGALNICEANU, Romania — Joint Task Force-East air medical evacuation personnel are scheduling medical rehearsal flights between the Romanian Air Base here and Constanta County Hospital, Spitalul Clinic Judetean de Urgenta. The purpose of the flights are to train and prepare the pilots in established procedures to ensure a rapid medical evacuation to the hospital if a Romanian or U.S. Soldier is injured while participating in the JTF-E proof of principle exercise.

The helicopter crews are planning to conduct rehearsal flights to the hospital on Thursday. If the rehearsal flights are not completed on Thursday, the flights are scheduled to continue on Friday. The helicopter crews will be flying Blackhawk helicopters configured for medical evacuation.

Approximately 600 U.S. Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and civilian personnel will participate in the proof of principle exercise, which will build interoperability and military relationships between Romania, Bulgaria and the United States, and test command and control capabilities required for JTF-E future rotational unit deployments.
