Lost/Stolen Green Card

If your permanent resident card, or “green card,” has been lost, stolen, or expired while you are out of the United States, the consular section can provide you with a transportation letter to travel back to the U.S.

To obtain a transportation letter, call the Immigrant Visa section at 200-3300 to make an appointment. At the appointment, you will pay the Transportation Letter fee of $165 USD. You must also provide the following:

• proof of your current legal permanent resident status
• proof that you have been in the United States within the past 12 months
• valid passport and one photo
