Summer Work & Travel Visas
The Summer Work & Travel program allows full-time university students to work in the United States for up to four months during their summer
vacation. For details about the program, visit the State Department’s Summer Work & Travel web page.
Applying for a Summer Work & Travel Visa at the Consular Section
In addition to the forms and fees for regular non-immigrant visa applications (click the Appointments & Fees link for more information), students must also bring the following:
- Completed DS 2019 Form provided by the sponsor
- SEVIS form and fee receipt (this fee can be paid online at http://www.fmjfee.com)
- DS-158 form
- DS-156 & DS-157 form (for men between the ages of 16 and 45)
- Official transcripts in a sealed and stamped envelope
- Student book (must be original, not a copy)
- If students have traveled to the United States before, they must bring their old passports and evidence of when they departed the United States
Returning from the Summer Work & Travel Program
All students are expected to return to Romania before classes begin. Typically, the date when students must leave the United States is the first Monday
in October. Students who do not return by the first Monday of October may have a difficult time obtaining a U.S. visa in the future!
