Types of Visitor Visas

The type of visa you require depends on the purpose of your trip to the United States. To find out more about each type of visa and what documents are required, click one of the links below.

• Tourist & Business Visas are for travelers who want to visit family or friends for a brief time, or for business travelers who will be attending meetings or seminars.
• Transit & Crew Visas are for travelers who are simply passing through a U.S. port of entry on their way to another foreign destination, or for employees of ships and aircraft who must pass through a U.S. port of entry on their way to their vessel.
• Student Visas are required to pursue academic or vocational studies in the U.S.
• Summer Work & Travel Visas are for college students who are participating in the Summer Work & Travel program.
• Exchange Programs & Training Visas are for participants of cultural exchange programs or training/internship programs.
• Work Visas include a variety of visa types such as specialty occupations, seasonal laborers, intra-company transfers, entertainers, and religious workers.
