A delegation of 61 visitors from the State of Alabama will visit Romania under the leadership of Major General Crayton Bowen, the Adjutant General of the Alabama National Guard during July 12 – 14. The Alabama National Guard has had a relationship of several years standing with the Romanian Ministry of National Defense, involving mutual training programs for American and Romanian military personnel. Major General Bowen seeks to further expand the relationship between Alabama and Romania by bringing this delegation of civic, political, business and law enforcement leaders to Romania to meet with their Romanian counterparts and explore grounds for cooperation, trade and investment. The business representatives are especially interested in the areas of banking, public finance, energy, and agriculture. Members of the Alabama State Legislature and state and city officials will meet with Romanian officials and parliamentarians.

Among the activities scheduled for certain members of the delegation is a visit to Casa Speranta Orphanage in Constanta at 11:00 AM on July 14. An eye doctor on the delegation will examine the children in the orphanage, with a view towards future visits to provide eye care.

In perioada 12-14 iulie, o delegatie de 61 de vizitatori din Statul Alabama va vizita Romania, sub conducerea Generalului Maior Crayton Bowen, Comandantul Garzii Nationale din Alabama. Garda Nationala din Alabama colaboreaza de cativa ani cu Ministerul Apararii Nationale din Romania, in special in ceea ce priveste programele comune de pregatire pentru personalul fortelor armate romane si americane. Generalul Maior Bowen doreste sa dezvolte relatiile dintre Alabama si Romania; in acest sens, el insoteste in Romania o delegatie alcatuita din lideri politici, oameni de afaceri, reprezentanti ai societatii civile si ai autoritatilor judiciare pentru a se intalni cu omologii lor romani si pentru a analiza posibilitatile de cooperare, comert si investitii. Reprezentantii mediului de afaceri sunt interesati, in special, de domeniile bancar, financiar, energetic si agricol. Membrii legislaturii din Alabama, precum si oficiali ai statului Alabama, se vor intalni cu oficiali si parlamentari romani.

Activitatile programate pentru cativa dintre membrii delegatiei includ o vizita la Orfelinatul “Casa Sperantei” din Constanta, in data de 14 iulie, la orele 11:00. Un medic oftalmolog, membru al delegatiei, va examina copiii gazduiti de orfelinat, ca un prim pas in stabilirea unor vizite ulterioare in scop medical.
