U.S. STATE OF VIRGINIA TRADE MISSION TO ROMANIA
The Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP) will bring a group of US senior business executives on a Trade Mission to Romania between May 12th and May 14th.
The mission aims to increase trade and commercial cooperation between the American State of Virginia and Romania.
The official business delegation, led by Ms. Patricia Codescu Understein, VEDP International Trade Manager, includes representatives of five successful Virginia companies in the information technology, telecommunications, aviation/defense equipment and environmental protection sectors: Allen Corporation of America, Artel, Inc.; Innovative Concepts, Inc; Midwesco Filter Resources, Inc. and NSGDatacom, Inc.
Each US participating company will meet with at least ten Romanian potential business partners through pre-arranged business sessions scheduled to take place on May 13-14 at the Howard Johnson Hotel in Bucharest.
The American delegation will also have discussions with officials of the US Embassy in Romania, Ministry of National Defence, Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and Ministry of Economy and Commerce.
The Trade Mission is VEDP's second to Romania. A similar event was organized in June, 2003. In October 2003, VEDP hosted a delegation of ten Romanian IT&C companies interested in creating business partnerships with Virginia companies.
Commenting on the Trade Mission, the U.S. Embassy's Commercial Attache, Jonathan Marks, stated, "We are delighted to have such a strong and diverse group of Virginia-based companies in dynamic industry sectors exploring opportunities for partnership with Romanian counterparts. Last year's Trade Mission organized by the State of Virginia was a great success and we anticipate this event will have similar results. I am particularly pleased that Artel, Inc. is returning to Romania, after taking part in the Business Development mission led by U.S. Commerce Department Deputy Secretary Sam Bodman last July."
