U.S. PRESIDENT MAKES CONGRATULATORY CALL TO PRESIDENT-ELECT BASESCU
U.S. President George W. Bush called Romanian President-elect Traian Basescu on December 15 to congratulate him on his recent election. During the brief phone call, President Bush told President-elect Basescu that he looked forward to working with him to continue the close cooperation between the two nations. President Bush also expressed appreciation for Romania's contribution to security in Europe and the world, and the two leaders discussed the importance of strengthening transatlantic ties and continuing to work together on regional issues.
